Why start this?

I don’t go to Griffith Park all that much. I don’t know why it means so much to me, but it does. I grew up in a city that respects and loves its park, and I expected to find that here, but LA ignores its park!

I run there a few times a week. I’ve been a volunteer at meetings of the PROS (Parks, River, and Open Space) Committee for 3 years, because after trying to fix some of the BIG problems there by myself for a while, I was happy to know that in PROS there was a lot more manpower to help me out.

When I haven’t been to the park in a while, or when the 5 freeway is obese, I often take the detour from Burbank to Silver Lake through the park, on Crystal Springs Drive. I open the windows, and it smells so good, especially at night! And it’s a nice ride to the original Baskin-Robbins in Burbank, as well!

I can see the park from my windows, too. It’s all burned now, and I have something to say about that.
