Bullet trains are still a hot topic in California! To train nuts, that is, or people who care where our taxes are going. Or people following boondoggles.
Most of us out here in California never, or very rarely ride trains, unlike railroads back East, where they’re an essential form of transportation. Yet suddenly this super speedy train is the cure-all for the state.

In 2018 the Authority pushed estimated costs to between $63.2 billion and $98.1 billion (YOE) and delayed initial service to 2029, with Los Angeles to San Francisco service in 2033 — Wiki
It’s an hour away by plane. Don’t hold your breath about this.
About the cartoon
I don’t really understand cosplay. Or steampunk. But the costumes seemed right for the imaginary bullet train.
