HDPE plastic bird balls pollute Ivanhoe. Party on.
I see that LA Curbed talks about the bird balls soon to be thrown in Ivanhoe Reservoir. Finally! I am not alone!
The title there is punnish (which I hate), but they always have good comments at LA Curbed. I photographed those bags a couple of weeks ago, but didn’t know they held the evil balls themselves. The writer also quoted the DWP as saying there’s going to be a party as they throw them in to pollute the lake and the environment. Don’t wanna miss that. Plus:
(Officials didn’t find the same levels of bromate in the Ivanhoe reservoir, according to the DWP.)
While these balls are in place, the city will build another underground water reservoir near Forest Lawn Cemetery, a project that’ll take 4-6 years to construct.
I have a couple of comments on this. Has anyone thought to ask why the LADWP bird balls are going in Ivanhoe, instead of Silver Lake, if the Ivanhoe bromate level was good and the slk was bad??? I guess if you can’t reach your target problem, just aim at something else!
And about the Headworks new reservoir…that was supposed to start in operation next year, according to their own 700 page report hidden deep in their website. How important are deadlines to our only utility source of water and electricity?
Here’s the skinny: they are tapdancing around with bird balls, spending an extra cool million and causing tons of non-degradable plastic waste (treating the reservoir that DOESN’T need it!) BECAUSE THEY ARE INCOMPETENT, and are at least 5 years behind their own plan and report.
H. David Nahai should wear a scarlet B on his forehead, for bird balls.
Thanks to lao! for the heads up!
