Toto, we’re not in LA anymore!

Well, you know we ARE, because we don’t like to drive all that much. But this could be a mountain town! Almost same perspective as the one below, but a sunnier day. It’s Brand Blvd, in Atwater, and I looked it up on the map and I’m almost certain the mountain is Mt. Olympus! I mean Mt. Wilson, of course, almost as cool. Do click it. Atwater as cool mountain town.

    Rain closures in Griffith Park.

The oddly moderated Griffith Park Recovery, which has only anonymous posts, in a boring press release style, says some (most?) roads into GP will be closed for rain. Past rain, that is; no rain yet today. Includes the Bird Sanctuary, and we know how popular that is. For no determinate time. So don’t count on them. Just sit and wait for another announcement. Here’s something to look at while you wait: snow above Glendale Blvd, in Atwater. It looks like about 3 mountain ranges away- first time this year it’s been visible. I can only see this mountain a couple of months a year, because of smog in Glendale and the inland. (Smog in Glendale? Really?) I keep wanting to learn how to snowshoe. I’d go there. Snow touches this unknown mountain today. I took this one today, new snow on a mountain 3 or 4 ranges away. I can see this mountain only a few days a year. Is it Mt. Wilson? For the first three years I lived here, I thought that the white building with a…

    Nice pix

How green was my Griffith valley? After they sprayed it with gunk, very. I didn’t even notice the helicopter in the photo until I downloaded it! Here I give a shoutout to my adorable little camera I got in August, the Panasonic DMC-TZ1. I never did find the blue one, which I wanted so badly. In fact, because it was already so OLD in camera lifetimes (over a year), I only found three of this model in the whole city! I ended up going to Best Buy in Westwood for the only new one in a box they had. Great deal for $150. (Also had to get memory card and…
