What’s wrong with blue??

I’m so mad. I’ve been looking for a camera for WEEKS now. Read all the reviews. Read all the owners’ reviews. Looked at all the examples up on Amazon. And found the greatest place to see how a camera really performs is to check out your fave cameras on Flicker, and see how everyone’s photos look! You can see them by category, for each different camera: portrait, landscape, macro, etc, all taken with YOUR camera!

Panasonic DMC-TZ1
Come to me, baby.

So I decided on this one, for reasons too technical to go into, but it’s good. It’s the Panasonic DMC-TZ1, and if you join the group on Flickr for your camera (which of course I will), they call themselves Tizzies.

Did I say I wanted it in blue? It comes in black, silver and blue (and gold, if you live in Japan!). I want blue (or gold. Even though I live in Silver Lake.) Design counts, here as in everywhere. When I took an art class a few years ago, my esteemed teacher from Pasadena Art Center told us that whenever you have a choice, even if it’s a can of peas, choose the one with better design. So blue it is.

So then I had to look everywhere, to get the best price. And as it turns out, since the camera is just over a year old, that means there aren’t any. Anywhere. Boring black? Sure. No blue.

Someplace must have one. Tucked away, waiting for me. Blue as…the sky back east. Wah, I want to be a Tizzie, too.
