New Yorker women who kill.

cartoon woman throws husband out the window
woman gets rid of husband to save herself

New Yorker-type cartoon!

Not a fan of Helen E. Hokinson, a famous female New Yorker cartoonist (well, the ONLY woman for 50 years in the New Yorker), although I admired some of her watercolors. But she would have recognized the style and type of these women who lunch – or have tea and cake, in this cartoon.

An avid reader of her books on Amazon wrote:

If you haven’t met her, Helen Hokinson was a pioneer NEW YORKER cartoonist back when NEW YORKER cartoons were funny. Her stock in trade was mostly a New York (or perhaps Westchester) woman of the upper middle classes–visiting museums and lending libraries, taking part in amateur theatricals, pet and flower shows, and not quite getting the point. If you imagine Aunt May from the old Andy Griffith Show, or Elwood Dowd’s sister from HARVEY loose on the town, you’ve about got them.

Actually, it’s okay to be entitled, you know, and know that you have choices in your relationship — though you don’t have to go this far. Only liberals think of that word, entitled, as negative, since they are afraid of money. Also, it’s a-okay to take care of yourself. 🙂

(Does this cartoon remind anyone of Cell Block Tango, from the movie Chicago? I mean, minus the dancing and Richard Gere, and the sexy outfits. Women who kill.)
